The Key for Success

For a long time I felt lost and frustrated. I felt as though I was living the movie, Groundhog Day. I would go to bed each day saying tomorrow would be different. Tomorrow I would take back control of my eating. Tomorrow, I wouldn’t go to bed ashamed of the time I wasted. Tomorrow, I wouldn’t go the bed embarrassed of the amount I had eaten the night before.

I spent YEARS going to bed and waking up with the same thoughts, only to repeat the same actions and be in the same spot. YEARS.

My Key for Success

INTENTION. There is so much power in being intentional.
Intentional with your time.
Intentional with your energy.
Intentional with your thoughts.

Hope is not a strategy

JOHN C. MAXWELL

Don’t hope for happiness. Don’t hope to be a better person. Take control!

When I say that, does it make you uncomfortable? Good! Get uncomfortable. Greatness never came from a place of comfort. Growth is uncomfortable.

Was Rosa Parks comfortable when she wouldn’t give up her seat on the bus? Heck no!

Now, if you start telling me that you aren’t meant for greatness. I am going to whole heartedly disagree with you. You ARE meant for greatness. Everyone’s gift and dream is different. I get it, not everyone is meant to start a civil rights movement. But you truly have a gift to make this world a better place and you can’t do that by self-soothing with Netflix and chips.

Who is the best version of you?
Do you want to be a great mom?
A great partner?
Succeed in your career?
Start your own business?

Watch out for these traps!

Inevitably, everyone faces some thinking that can hold them back from living with intention. Be aware of some of the following thoughts that can hold you back.

“I don’t know how.”

Sorry, in our age of information, this is not a reason to grow. There are so many opportunities to learn for free on the internet. Heck, even library cards are free these days! If you don’t want to figure it out yourself, then hire someone. Invest into yourself, be it time or money. You are worth it.

“It’s not the right time.”

Sometimes it is urgency that prompts us to make improvements in our life. Being faced with a life and death experience or health scare. However, most of us (hopefully) won’t face something like that. Let’s also be real, all of us should make improvements in our life. AND it will never be a good time. There’s always going to be something. There is always going to be stress. Always going to be a lack of time. Always.

Here’s one thing I learned. Being intentional actually clears up space in my life. It allows me face stress differently. It allows me to manage my time better. I would argue, you can’t afford not to right now.

“I am afraid of making mistakes.”

This was a big one for me! Seriously. Making mistakes or being wrong is something that held me back for a long time. Here’s what I learned, failure is part of growth. If I wanted to be the best version of me, I needed to be okay with things being messy. My advice, get over it.

“I’m not motivated.”

Dude. JUST DO IT.

Don’t fall into the trap of motivation. The right thing to do will always be the right thing to do, regardless of how you feel. Being the healthiest, happiest you will always be the right thing to do. So act, regardless of motivation. Being healthy and happy will result in the by product of motivation.

My Struggle.

One of the things I needed to start being more intentional with was my time. I kept telling myself I didn’t have enough time. The truth? I was wasting a lot of time.

I decided I wanted to become a better speaker. That certainly isn’t going to happen by accident. And let me tell you, the fear of failure is REAL! However, I know that in order to help the most people I can and have real impact on the world, being a better speaker is necessary. Now, when you look at my calendar, you will see time in my calendar to develop myself as a speaker. You will also see that I spend less time scrolling mindlessly through social media and less time watching TV.

What to Do Today.

Today I challenge you to be intentional with your time and energy. What is ONE THING that you can do intentionally to step into that person you were meant to be?

p.s. If you think someone needs to hear this message I would love for you to send them this post. I’m starting a movement. Buckle up. 🔥
